Schools: South Padre Island, Texas

South Padre Island is served by the Point Isabel School District in Port Isabel, TX. The district enrollment is about 2500 students. There are two elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. The Point Isabel School District is a beneficiary of the large South Padre Island property tax base. Children who live on the island are provided bus service to their school by the district.

Garriga Elementary School serves grades K-2, Derry Elementary School serves grades 3-5, Port Isabel Junior High School serves grades 6-8, and Port Isabel High School serves grades 9-12. The school mascot is The Fighting Tarpons.
